- By the end of 2005 it was estimated that that nearly 44% of cumulative HIV/AIDS cases in the US were among gay & bisexual men.
A recent study conducted in 7 US cities demonstrated that gay and bisexual men of color may be at even higher risk (with infection rates as high as 47% in some cities).
In major cities across the US new & serious outbreaks of sexually transmitted diseases have been seen in gay & bisexual men---including syphilis, LGV (a very serious form of chlamydia), and drug-resistant strains of gonorrhea.
Consistent and correct use of condoms during sex can greatly reduce or eliminate the risk of sexually transmitted infections.
